When you will end the post, I am damn sure you will get confidence about working on a website and managing the WordPress Panels.

First of all, let me tell you What WordPress is? Actually, WordPress is a platform on which you can run your website if you have a hosting or server. It is slightly different from Blogger platform because Blogger is own by Google and there is no need of Hosting on it. It provides hosting for free. There are other many platforms other than WordPress like Drupal, Tumblr and much more.

So, Why we need Hosting on WordPress? So, friends, let me tell you what is Hosting. Okay what you are doing on Website, you are writing content and publishing it. Okay, but how it will reach to the Internet. I mean okay you are submitting your Post to the Google but how Google will show your data. The data must be saved somewhere from where Google can access or get your data and show it to the user. So, Hosting is like a Room in which your Website is stored and you have to pay rent to that room or have to buy the room for one year or more. I hope you understand. Now talk about the WordPress Dashboard, there are many features which I am going to tell you now.

You Can Open Your Site from Dashboard

Place Cursor On the Home Icon at the Top Left Corner at the Right of WordPress Logo and then Right Click on Visit Site. Your Site will get open in New Tab.

Post Section

In Post Sections there are four Subsections of Post. These are All Posts, New Post, Categories, Tags. Now I am explaining you some hidden features about New Post Section.

All Posts

Here you will all your posts. And You Can Delete or Add New Post from here. This all easy to use. If you want to delete some posts, then you can select all those posts and use Bulk Action Feature and Select Move to Trash and then go the Trash and Empty Trash. All the posts will be permanently deleted.

Add New Post

In the Top empty box you have to insert Title, then it is URL. You can edit the URL of the page by clicking Edit in front of the URL. But initially, there is no need to edit the URL. By default, it gets from the Title.

You can Add Image, Video, PDF File or any other media file by clicking on the Add Media and then Upload.

  • The Button B, I and U are for Bold, Italic, and Underline.
  • ABC, this is for cutting the text to make it more attractive.
  • Bullets are used to numbering something.
  • Quote Button is to Highlighting Few Words or Lines with different Background and High Font.
  • You can Insert Link By Selecting Text and then Click on Insert Link Button.
  • You can remove Link by Selecting Linked Text and then Click Removing Link Button.
  • Text and Visual Buttons are for the Coding on your page. Everything on Net is by coding.
  • If you Click on the Paragraph, you will see different Heading Options. They are used to Enlarge your Headings.
  • A Capital A with downward Arrow is used to Coloring the Text.
  • Free Writing Button is to get free from Side Widgets and Write without any disturbance.

You can add Featured Images, Tags, Categories, Display Option from the sidebar of the Add New Post Sub-Section. So, let me tell you what is Tag and what is Featured Image.

Tags are the 3 to 4 words long keywords which you want to add specifically. For example, I will add WordPress Basic Guide as a Tag in this Post. You can add 3 to 4 tags in every post.

Featured image is the image which will appear on the homepage of your site. These images will also appear on the social media like facebook, twitter if you will share the post.

Categories

You can Add or delete Categories of your site from this subsection. If you are using Breadcrumbs you can also give Description to the Categories and make Parent Categories. Parent Category is the head category of some other categories. For example, you make Bollywood as a Parent Category then you can make subcategories of Bollywood as Trailer, Collection, Review, etc.

Tags

Tags are the small keywords or long tail keywords which are also known as Archives. For Example, this post has Title WordPress Dashboard Tutorial Complete Guide Step by Step {Beginner to Expert} PDF. My Tags will be WordPress Beginners Guide, WordPress Dashboard Step by Step Learning, Like this. You can 3 to 4 or 5 Tags in every post from the Post Section as I told you earlier. This is the Tags managing section you can manage all the tags of your site from here. Deleting adding of Tags can also be managed from here.

Media and Link Section

Other Options are Media and Links which you don’t have to focus more. You can explore these option and these are easy to access. I don’t think I have to tell more about this. Now, let me tell you about pages.

Pages Section

This Section has two subsections All Pages and New Pages. These pages are other types of posts. These are a special type of posts which you want to appear in different positions. You can add or remove pages from here.

Comments Section

The Next Section is Comments. In this sections, you can approve or delete comments. The number of comments will appear in the dashboard main menu section. After clicking on the Comments, you will see some things which you have to consider before approving the comment.

Now, after Comment Section, you will see your theme setting details. Either it will be by the name Theme Option or by your theme name like Iconic One type. From here, you can edit your theme how it will allow you to access.

Some themes have special access to the theme option, it depends on the quality of the theme. Some well-paid responsive themes allow you most of the settings access and some free themes give you limited options. After Theme Option, there may be some other plugins setting option. But it may available here for some special plugins only.

Appearance Section

These are the subcategories or subsections of Appearance – Themes | Customize | Widgets | Menus | Theme Plugins | Editor.

Themes

All of your uploaded themes are available here. From here, you can change your theme, by going to Appearance – Themes – Add New. Now, you can either upload theme if you have on your computer and you can choose from the given free themes.

Customize

You can Customize your current theme by going to Appearance – Themes – Customize. From here, you will see your theme live on the screen and you can edit few things live from the section.

Widgets

Appearance – Widgets Section is to add anything to your site widget. It comprises of website Sidebar, Header, and Footer. From here you can add or remove something.

These may differ from theme to theme. Some themes have three footers column and some may have more. Few paid themes may provide you a variation of sidebars and maybe a simple theme will allow you to access through only one sidebar.

Menus

Now, the next subsection of Appearance is Menu. Appearance -> Menu. From here, you can make or edit menu for your site. There are two basic types of the menu with a simple theme. One is Main Menu and the other is a top menu. Top Menu is for Pages and some specific links. And the Main Menu is the category of the Website.

Editor

And now the last one is Appearance -> Editor. Actually, this is the stylesheet or coding of the theme which you are using. For instance, you want to put an Adsense code in the theme header. And theme customization is not allowing you. Then, you may go the Editor and then paste the code where you want to view the ads.

Plugins

WordPress has plugins features which make this more user-friendly. These are additional kind of software or tools to make the site better for the use. 17 Plugins You must have on your WordPress Site.

Installed Plugins

You can manage all your installed Plugins from here. Settings, Activation, Deactivation of the Installed Plugins can be managed through here.

Add New

You can Add New Plugin from Installed Plugin too but this is the specified subsection to add a new plugin. You can upload plugin manually and can also search in the search box.

Users

From this Category, you add or remove an author, administrator or Subscriber of your site. Admin or Administrator are you, you can access the full site settings. But the author is writers, you can hire authors on an income basis and ask them to write content for you on your site. The authors will see only limited things on the dashboard. They can’t change the theme, coding or any other access to the site.

Users Section also has three subsections out of which two I explained above the last is Your Profile. You can add details about yourself from here which will appear on the site. To add your photo to your profile you have created an account of gravatar and then link it to your dashboard.

Tools Section

This Tool Section has three subsections mentioned as Available Tools, Import, and Export. Available Tool has few available things which you can manage like, make all categories as tags or vice versa.

Import

The Import Sub-Section of Tools is used to download and Upload the website data if you will change the WordPress or migrate your hosting or domain.

Export

By going into the export subsection you can download the site data and by going into the Import subsection you can Upload it.

Settings Section

In the Settings Section, there are so many subsections which may vary by the plugins you are using. But most of them are mandatory.

General

From Settings -> General, you can change the name of the site and Tagline. The site is mentioned above on the site as logo and the Tagline is the line below the logo or site name. For example, My Site name is Solution With and my Tagline is One Place for All Common Queries. Time and date can also be managed from here.

Writing and Reading Sub-Section

From Writing Sub-Section you can choose your default Category and default post format. This setting may vary from theme to theme. You can easily access and understand.

From Reading Sub-Section you can make your front page static or chose the latest post option. Also, you can limit the number of posts on the homepage from here.

Discussion Sub-Section

From Discussion Section you can manage the Comments settings. Who will comment on your site? What should he/she enter and whether the comments will be approved automatically or manually?

Permalink Sub-Section

If you are thinking to change the permalink of your site. Like you want to add category after site name or want to add year and month after site and before the URL of the post. Then you can manage the settings from. From my advice, the best option is Post Name.

After these, you will see the Settings options of your plugins like Google Analytics, Quick Adsense, Anti-Spam and more. If you are working on WordPress, then you will hardly go through the coding. Most things are available through plugins in this.

Plugins Settings Sections

After Settings Section, you might see some plugins settings if you are using so. By the most of the plugins, settings appear in the Settings Section but few of them appear below Settings Section. You can manage them from here. And the last one is collapse menu. You can click it to know what it is doing.

Hidden Things in WordPress Dashboard

This section is the top right section of WordPress New Post. From here you can add a password to your post on the website. You can also make the post private. You can use these features.
